First of all, we would like to sincerely thank all our guests who fished with us in 2025. After the very challenging 2024 season and the uncertainty surrounding what 2025 would bring, we truly appreciate your continued support and understanding during such a difficult time. Many of you were rewarded with some excellent fishing throughout the season.
Once again, August proved that it’s one of the hidden gems of the salmon season. Often overlooked, it delivered some of the best fishing of the year! Week 31 and Week 34 were especially outstanding, with an impressive 877 and 717 salmon landed on the Gaula—making them the two most productive weeks of the entire season.
Even though August fishing usually means darker, colored fish, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of fresh, sea-liced salmon caught throughout the month—across all sizes.

A great late-season catch! Simon Kitcher landed this stunning 105 cm sea-liced salmon on Beat C2 at the end of August—a perfect example of the quality fish still entering the river late in the season.
As the first cold front moved in at the beginning of Week 34, we experienced what can only be described as two outstanding weeks on the NFC beats. The rise in water levels combined with a drop in water temperature immediately triggered a surge in fish activity. Suddenly, not only were more fish moving—but the bigger salmon also started taking the flies.

Daniel Stephan with his magnificent 113 cm Gaula salmon from Beat A1—an absolute highlight for August! It doesn’t get much better than that.
The biggest fish from the NFC beats was also caught during the prime conditions in the final week of the season. This true Gaula monster measured an impressive 118 cm and came from Beat A1. We’re thrilled to see that our beats continue to hold a healthy population of these magnificent Gaula giants.

Thies Reimers with the biggest salmon of the season from the NFC beats on the Gaula—an incredible fish measuring 118 cm!
With more than 200 Atlantic salmon landed on the NFC beats this season, we’re proud to look back on a rewarding season—despite some challenging conditions along the way. While the fishing wasn’t always easy, our guests’ patience and perseverance paid off, resulting in memorable catches and unforgettable moments. The season once again reaffirmed the Gaula’s reputation as one of Norway’s premier salmon rivers.
With a successful 2025 season coming to an end, we’re already looking forward with excitement to what 2026 may bring. Encouragingly, the research nets in the Trondheim Fjord recorded the highest number of grilse in the past 13 years—an indicator that we could be in for a strong run of medium-sized salmon next season.
Bookings for the 2026 season are now open—and demand is already high. Several key weeks are filling up fast, so don’t wait too long to get in touch if you’d like to secure your spot on the NFC beats next season.
