Another good week on the NFC Beats.

Published on: July 6, 2015, 3:58 p.m.

Week 27 started well on our Lundamo Beat L1, where regular guest, Hans E. Wolff started the week with a nice fish.

Sacha Puetz, from Germany, caught one of the first seatrout of the season – a clear sign that summer has finally begun.

Sacha Puetz with a nice seatrout about 2,5kg – quite big for the Gaula.

First time visitor, Matthias Vorweg, did not take long to hook into his first fish on his first salmon trip ever. On beat E1, Matthias landed a nice grilse. A few hours later, Andre Scholz, found himself hooked up with a nice fish in the same beat.

The following day water levels continued to drop and more fish passed the Gaulfossen. Manz fish were seen moving upstream and all our pools are holding salmon.

Sacha Puetz managed to get his next fish, this time a salmon on beat D1. It was the first fish of from the beat for this season and a nice one!

Sasha Puetz with his nice fish from Beat D1 – 8,2kg.

Just 1 hour later after Sasha caught his salmon his fishing partner and regular guest, Christian Tamcke caught another fish in beat D1, weighing in at 5kg.

Per Arneberg also caught a nice fish during an evening session on beat E2, weighing in at 6kg.

Alessio Farloni and Daniel Stephan fished beat E2 together in the evening and each caught a grilse. Also, the next morning on E2, Jean-Luc Verstraeten and Andre Scholz both landed grilse. With the grilse arrival, we’ll see a lot more life in the pools, which should stir up settled fish!

This week fishing had much to do with being in the right spot at the right time with fish moving in and out of pools constantly. Hans Wolf and Werner Brinker had luck on their side in BS2, resulting in a great session. Werner lost 3 fish in the row, two good sized fish between 7 and 8kg and another very big fish between 12 and 13 kg. Hans was luckier and landed his fish, weighing about 6,5kg.

The day brought lots of sun and warm temperatures, which meant everyone was out fishing. American guest Bill McMaster caught his first Gaula salmon on beat E2 – a nice fish weighing about 7kg.

Our French guests Guy and his son David Parkiet, having just arrived, saw action their first evening on the water in beat A1, but were unable to land any fish. The next morning Guy caught his first fish of the trip. He was caught and released a beautiful fish on deat BS1 weighing 8,2kg.

Later that day, Guy’s son, David landed a nice fish from beat B2. He was fishing alone, resulting in the simply a photo of the fish in water.

The next day was a great day on our Bogen Sondre beat BS1. Our fishermen landed 3 nice fish. Early in the morning, Mathias Vorweg caught his 2nd fish of the week – this time a solid fish about 7kg, but since he was fishing alone, we don’t have a photo. Congrats Matthias for a good start into salmon fishing!

Also, Christian Tamcke fished the beat BS1 until noon and landed his next salmon weighing about 7kg. Later in the afternoon it was Guy Parkiet fishing the beat, resulting in a fantastic fish measuring 100cm and weighing about 10kg. What a great day!

Guy with his 10kg fish from Beat BS1 – well done, Guy!

Week 27 was the first week where a large amount of fish could constantly pass the Gaulfossen rapids, which mean the coming weeks should be very interesting in the upper part of the river. The research nets in the outer fjord are still catching good numbers of fish which is a good indicator that it looks like we will have a constant run of salmon during the next few weeks. Right now, all our pools throughout the river are fishing well – a very comfortable situation for our guests! It feels very good to see the Gaula in much better shape than the last 2 seasons and that we are having a good time!

Week 28 started quickly with the first fish being landed last night, so all looks signs point to the fishing staying red hot!

Remember: We still have vacancies from 19th of July! It should be good fishing, so if anyone is interested in a short notice booking – you are welcome! Just get in touch.

We will keep you posted!

Sincerely,

Your team at the
