NFC Lodge

After two very difficult years with the pandemic, we are finally planning a return to normalcy as international borders open up, and travel becomes easier.  Norway has eased all travel restrictions and is planning a busy summer tourist season. For us, that means our friends from Europe, America and elsewhere can finally return to the beautiful Gaula. We are very excited to finally welcome our international clientele back at the lodge after a long break.

The snow pack in the mountains is well above average for this time of year. There is quite a bit of snow and we are expecting higher water levels at the beginning of the season than we have seen in a while. Although there are no guarantees, a bigger snow pack promises good water levels throughout the season.

Following the last two years of the pandemic, where few guests were able to travel to Norway or fish with us at the NFC, we are extremely excited to reopen our lodge door, and our waters to both returning regulars and friends, as well as first-time visitors to the Gaula and the NFC.

As always, we are constantly evaluating our water leases. At the end of 2019, we added some new water on the Bua which many guests have not yet seen or fished. These are exciting small pools on that fantastic little tributary and can be very fun to fish. Most of our other favorite Beats will be the same as in past years. The Beats in the Støren area continue to improve as spring flows and seasonal storms push gravel around. New Pool (A1) is fishing well in most water levels from high to quite low, Renna (B2) has begun to return back to its previous structure, and fishing quite well. Langøy (B1) and Tilseth (C2) are great as always- holding fishing and producing takes in all water levels. The lower Beats will be virtually the same as the last years; we will be fishing E1, E2, E3 and L1 – all of them great in early season, when fresh fishing are running- as well as in late season, and lower water.

Not surprisingly, much of our season we are fully booked. Prime time is mostly full, but we still have a few last options for week 22 and also weeks 29, 30 and 32 at the Lodge. We also have open rods in later August at the country house. As perhaps some of you have seen on Instagram and Facebook during the last two seasons, August has been quite good at times and it’s absolutely worth thinking about a trip to the Gaula in August. The prices are moderate, and the fishing can be as good as in prime time.

If you have not decided about a trip this summer, or if your trip elsewhere got cancelled due to the pandemic or other events, please feel free to get in touch and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Now is the time to get outside, prioritize your free time, and freedom once again to move about- and come to the Gaula to catch your salmon of a lifetime!

We can’t repeat often enough how excited we are and super happy to see all our regular clients back fishing with us in 2022! It is not long until the new season begins, and we are all looking forward to being back in the valley swinging some big tube flies on June 1st!

Sincerely,

Your team at the
