The Gaula River

Flowing over 145 km from its headwaters in the high mountains near the village of Holtalen. The Gaula is a wild and unregulated river, full of giant Atlantic salmon.

Catch a Gaula Giant

Famous for its large Atlantic salmon, the Gaula produces fish over 18 kg (40 lbs) every year.

Conservation

NFC spearheaded the catch-and-release salmon fishing on the Gaula river. Over 90% of all fish caught are released each year at the NFC.
